Do not hang the rapists

Do not hang the rapists, it is not going to help.
Do not burst out in protest over the incident, it is not going to help.
You are doing all this to satisfy your anger, it is not going to help.

Do not you see the follies of your own actions? Do you think turning up in huge numbers and beating a few people up, while protesting at the top of your voice will help? Don’t you see that the whole of humanity is in a big hole as of now and that you are digging up more dirt by your childish behavior. Do you really see any difference between yourself and those whom you dare to accuse? What are you teaching your kids by doing this?

Ask yourself these questions and understand the repercussions. It is one confused mass in a very shameless stance. I do not pretend to act like a guy who can give you solutions to these problems. In fact, no single individual can. It has to be an informed and wise decision on the part of everyone, since every one conforms to some patterns in society (yes, you do it  too; if you wish to differ, look deeply inside of yourself and question again whether or not you are bound by chains). But I do know that what you are doing is wrong.

Kiran Bedi in an interview said that the only difference between the people behind the bars and others is that they were unlucky to have been caught. They performed acts which have been condemned by our judicial system, our law books. But what is law anyway? Is not highly subjective and completely vulnerable to a lot of punching by experienced lawyers, who certainly know their way in arm twisting the lady of justice to their favor. But do you think the law covers all aspects of crimes against humanity? What about the pain you are causing by beating up your kids or wife? What about deliberately throwing off your trash in front of your neighbor's house, wasting water and electricity, cutting down trees uselessly, killing off entire species, polluting the hell out of this beautiful nature and the like? Are these any lesser crimes against humanity? There are some fundamental problems which tend to fire off a lot of crimes. And whether you like it or not we all have been a part these fundamental issues. We have all been equal partners in this grand scheme of fraudulence. And think of how lucky you have been, you have not been caught for a lot of sins.

Punishment never stopped any crime. I have one argument to support it. The rapist is not scared about the punishment while he is ensnared by his vicious temperament. At that moment of frenzy he would not even care. A few moments of cheap thrill is more important to him than a life sentence or even his life. This is essentially because he is certainly not making a fair judgment at that point. That throws light to a more fundamental problem of human ethics and morality. What do you think is the root problem? It is neither poverty, nor his hunger or joblessness.

It is education and his upbringing . And by education I certainly do not wish to imply that those of us who feel lucky to have been formally schooled are better off. Remember, we are all in the same hole together. I wish to point at the degrading quality of teaching that we are providing to our kids within and outside the confines of our so called modern schools. Let us look at the ancient Indian schooling system for a reference. In the Gurukul system, kids were primarily instructed on the art of thinking i.e. philosophy. They were trained by highly efficient teachers in  all important disciplines like psychology and morality. And rightly so since it helped in building a character among the trainees. They knew how to see themselves as an important part of the grand whole and respect it. They knew how to respect humanity and nature. Unfortunately, we miss these things today. And we shall continue to face the same problems until and unless we see the root cause.

So, stop reading the magazines and the fucking newspapers. They distort reality. Instead of that read your mind, your thoughts and feelings. Read quality texts or literature. The world would be a much better place if each one of us took responsibility for our thoughts, emotions and actions.

We are all conformists here. We are in entangled in the same mess, only to different extents. And the sad part is, most of us don’t even know this.

My first poem with some fundae

On March the 29th, 2013 I decided to walk up to the terrace and get some fresh air. It was cloudy with a pleasant wind blowing . I remember going through a lot of thoughts about many things during that particular time. It started raining and I decided to stay instead of running off downstairs.

As I was getting wet in the rain, a certain thought caught my imagination. My motley train of thoughts ceased giving birth to an intense curiosity about the wonderful nature that surrounded me at that time. I looked around at the green trees, the wind blowing and playing around with droplets of water, birds flying off to find shelter and  the multifaceted palette  of colors spread in the sky. The experience was pretty soothing, to say the least.

There suddenly struck upon me a set of words which strung with each other in a harmonious form. I remember that I felt as if it was an extrasensory experience since I was not at all thinking about them, yet they arrived with equal gusto and an inherent peace and harmony. It culminated into my first poem which I have written down below.

I choose to call the poem incomplete since there was no finality of emotion at the end. And it shall always remain so since any extra effort to complete it will only entail corruption of its purity. It might sound extremely unpoetic or rudimentary to people, but I can recognize the worth of its music in my consciousness. Its piousness shall always accompany me till the end of days. However hard an author tries, he does know the fact that no one except of himself will be truly able to understand the emotions which he harbored while he penned his composition. A composition should be treated as a journey, a personal and different one by every individual, which shall allow him to sail in the sea of words and emotions according to their personal choice.

Pour unto me thy Lord
Wash away my earthly sins
Give me a new color, your color
For I need a fresh lease of life

Let my tears merge into yours
Let my self dissolve in you
As I walk the path of life uneven
Let me climb the stairway to heaven

Leaves glisten with thy Providence
Let thy music soothe my ears…..

Nature can fill your empty lives with boundless joys. Just give it a chance. Just give it a chance.
